Working for an NGO to help those in need has long been a dream job for me, but because my focus is on other stuff at this stage of my life, this "dream", usually winds up being merely just a thought and nothing more.
This semester, I had the opportunity to do a mock self-intro for the "New Business Development Director" position at Save the Children, an NGO dedicated to, well, saving the children. I got to dig deep into my mind to think of reasons for me to join STC, and ways I could stand out from the crowd. It came down to one word. Dream. We often underestimate the power of dreaming, and limit ourselves to do stuff that are "safe" and "achievable". However, limitations are just perceptions. We can become whoever we think we are, and we can do whatever we believe we are capable of achieving. I believe in this idea with all my heart, and I hope that I still will 10, 20 years from now.
Sometimes, you just have to take that leap of faith.
